Thea Award
November 2006

"Believe" at Sea World, San Antonio, San Diego, Orlando wins Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement: Live Show

Keeping a popular show fresh year after year is a challenge that all theme parks face, with the need to offer something new often competing with the risk of losing the essence of the shows popularity…bringing to mind the old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." In the new Killer Whale show, "Believe!" the Sea World parks have completely reinvented their most popular attraction, elevating it to higher level of entertainment by adding theatrical and media elements while also heightening the emotional impact of the show. No longer a straightforward demonstration of animal behaviors and tricks narrated by a trainer, the new show presents a lyrical storyline that incorporates powerful images, music audience interaction, and most of all, thrilling new human/animal interactions in an effectively staged and emotionally captivating presentation. The show captures a sense of pure exuberance and joy in a unique and memorable presentation incorporating a new set built around 5,000,000+ gallon tanks, and featuring four large 20' moving LED Video screens, theatrical lighting, and an impressive audio system.
