Environmental Initiative

At ShowSys we believe that it is the responsibility of every inhabitant of the planet to be cognizant of the impact that we have on our environment. We are constantly striving to find new ways to be respectful residents.

Recycling

At ShowSys not only do we recycle our water bottles and soda cans, but we also recycle 100% of our cardboard and 95% of our discarded office paper. Outdated computer equipment and electronics are generally donated to a charity, or if they are no longer useful they are recycled by a certified electronics recycler. We collect UPS batteries both from our internal use and from our clients with annual service agreements and deliver them to an appropriate recycler. We also encourage our team to continue these habits in their home life and offer them the option of bringing in to work items that may not be recycled at home.

Travel Policies

By utilizing telephone and web conferencing, electronic data transfer, other collaboration technologies and our Remote Support Solutions service offerings we minimize travel by our team. Because travel is inevitable, we rent Toyota Prisus rental cars whenever feasible and we attempt to combine trips to reduce our carbon footprint.

System Design

As more components are manufactured to ROHOS specifications, we specify ROHOS compliant products whenever possible in our system designs to reduce the eventual contaminants that get put in landfills. Through effective system design and programming we strive to make our systems power down equipment and lighting during periods of no use.

In The Office

Within the ShowSys offices simple measures such as programmable thermostats that adjust the temperature in off-peak hours to allow the air conditioning to work less and purchasing recycled paper help us be better citizens. As computers are replaced in our offices, we are selecting "green rated" power supplies that operate more efficiently and use less energy and we have set the energy settings for our office computers to power down components when unused.
